2017 Arizona Sun Circuit Awards Eligibility

The following are general eligibility requirements and conditions, they are subject to update and amplification. For updates, specific class and frequency requirements, please check the website (www.suncircuit.com) or the Show Office once on the grounds.
- Sun Circuit Awards are based on the nine-point system. If there are nine or more horses in a class, first place wins nine points, second wins eight points and so on. If there are fewer than nine horses, first place wins the maximum possible, second place earns one fewer and so on.

 

ALL AROUND AWARDS- (Senior, Junior, Amateur, Amateur Select, Novice Amateur, Youth 14-18, Youth 13 & under, Novice Youth) HALTER IS REQUIRED FOR ALL AROUND AWARDS EXCEPT NOVICE DIVISIONS.
LEVEL 2 CLASS POINTS DO NOT COUNT FOR ALL AROUND AWARDS

Halter points and AQHA classes will count towards award. Please check with the Show Office for the specific eligibility requirements for each All Around Award and the classes that count towards each award. Open, Amateur and Select horses must be shown under six of the eight judges. Youth must show under at least three judges.

HIGH POINT TEAM ROPING AQHA Heading and Heeling to count. Must show in the classes under at least six of eight judges.

YOUTH ROPING All youth roping classes to count.

CIRCUIT AWARDS Prizes will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion Circuit winners in each open class at Sun Circuit, must show under at least six of the eight judges. Youth must show under at least three judges.

SPECIAL AWARDS Sun Circuit will offer various specialized high point awards in addition to those listed. Please check the website and, once at the show, check with the Show Office for updates on the various special awards available and the criteria for each award.

PERMIT HOLDERS Exhibitors with permits to ride horses other than their own will not be eligible for Circuit or All Around awards.

EXHIBITOR RESPONSIBILITY Each exhibitor is responsible for knowing and understanding all applicable AQHA, AzQHA, NSBA, NRHA, and Sun Circuit rules and procedures. Exhibitors are responsible for knowing the prizes for which they are eligible. By competing for a prize, the exhibitor is effectively attesting to his or her eligibility for that prize. Any awards received at Sun Circuit for which the exhibitor or horse is found to be ineligible must be returned to Sun Circuit immediately at the exhibitor’s cost.

AWARDS PICK-UP All prizes must be picked up at the Show prior to the closing of the Office on the last day of the show. The show will not be responsible for shipping or otherwise delivering any prizes to exhibitors who have departed prior to the prizes being awarded.

 

Special Class Eligibility Rules

LEADLINE Open to exhibitors 8 years of age or under. Shown at the walk, on a leadline. Exhibitors may not enter any other riding classes at Sun Circuit. The horse may be of any breed and ownership.

WALK-TROT 10 & UNDER Open to exhibitors 10 years of age or under. Show at the walk and trot only. Exhibitors may not enter any other riding classes at Sun Circuit. The horse may be of any breed and ownership.

All-Around Senior Horse
Halter is required. Horse must show in at least three AQHA categories under at least six of the eight judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

Junior horses must be 5 years old or under / if showing in Aged or All Aged classes / show office will break out Junior horse points from classes. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

High Point Youth 11 & under
Halter is not required but will count. Exhibitor must compete in Youth 13 & under. Award points based on one rider/one horse. Combination must show in at least three AQHA categories under at least three of the six judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one horse. Horse must show in at least two of the five eligible Green classes English and Western combo under at least six of the eight judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

• Green Working Hunter
• Green Hunter under Saddle
• Green Western Pleasure
• Jr. or Sr. Green Western Riding
• Jr. or Sr. Green Trail

 

High Point Western Riding Horse (Open / Amateur Combination)
Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one horse / one amateur. Horse must show in at least one of the two Amateur classes and one of the two Open classes under at least six of the eight judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

• Amateur : Amateur Western Riding OR Amateur Select Western Riding
AND

• Open: Junior Western Riding OR Senior Western Riding



High Point All Ages Team Roping Horse
Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one horse. Horse must show in BOTH All Ages Team Roping classes under at least six of the eight judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

• All Ages Heading
• All Ages Heeling

 

High Point Amateur Team Roper
Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one rider/one horse. Combination must show in BOTH Amateur Team Roping classes under at least six of the eight judges. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

• Amateur Heading
• Amateur Heeling

 

High Point Youth Roper
Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one rider/one horse. Classes that can be counted towards the award include:

• 18 & under Breakaway
• 18 & under Tie Down
• 18 & under Heading

All-Around Cowboy - Open
Halter will not count towards the award. Award points based on one exhibitor. All placings for each exhibitor will be counted for this award. Classes that will be counted towards the award include:
